We always speak of the young guns that run with us throughout the season. Young and talented 16/17/18 year old’s. They have no fear and always race hard. They may only have a few race meetings of experience and we love having them as part of our Series.

So with that in mind we also need to recognise the ‘older’ or more ‘mature’ drivers, the ones that have a wealth of experience. This Saturday night we welcome back one of our All Star Series members and regulars. Ron Donaldson is having his first run since an accident at Moama ended his season last year. ‘Why is this special people might ask? – Well Ron turns 65 in March. You really have to admire his passion, dedication and desire to still compete.” Mandy Searle says.

“Ronnie has been competing with us since back in 2009. No spring chicken even then but that didn’t stop him. I remember one year he won our Vortex Altitude Award for the biggest roll over for the season. His dedication to 360’s is amazing. If he isn’t racing he is crewing for Michael Holt, Chris Campbell, Rusty Hickman, Darren Hickman or anyone else that needs a hand on the night.

Over the past few months he has put a new J & J car together, purchased a 360 engine, and refurbished his race transporter even staining the timber floor boards in it. Ronnie will be the oldest driver to compete with us. We wish him well, appreciate his efforts and hope the night goes well for him in his beloved V33. ”

Ron started racing when he was 19 in a FB Holden sedan. He then took time out with a young family and business and recommenced racing in the wing division in the early 1990’s and he has been a competitor/crew member/supporter ever since.
