Solomon back in Victory Lane
All Stars Media posted Sunday February 11, 2018.
Chris Solomon took out his first A Main win for the season last night in RD8 of the Mainline DynoLog Dynamometers All Star Series at Heartland Raceway. A calculated drive by Solomon after starting in P5 moving forward every lap until he was in a position to challenge for the lead. “I ran the early laps up high but after banging the wall several times I figured this wasn’t going to work so went down low. We started to figure the car out tonight which has taken us long enough but we finally got there.” Chris said at the Presentation.
What a great race it was and looked like going flag to flag. Michael Tancredi’s V29 leading the early stages of the race before he was passed by Brenten Farrer. Tancredi not giving in passed Farrer back again but not for long. It was Farrer’s turn to lead while Chris Solomon was wheeling him and Tancredi in and with lap traffic coming into play was waiting for the chance to make his move and with only 3 laps to go made the pass for the lead.
Farrer’s V34 Frijtek Maxim was fast all night again winning the Oval Express Magazine Quick Time Award and winning both of his heats. Unfortunately with only 1 lap to go Farrer running in second tangled with a spinning Jack Gartner’s SA16 bringing on the yellows. Farrer received right front shocker damage but was able to continue with Gartner on the infield. At the restart with an ill handling car Farrer and ended up upside down in turn one bringing on the red and finishing his night. The race then went green, white, checker. Tancredi was unable to pass Chris and settled for second. NT26 Tony Moule, V7 Paul Solomon and V77 Brayden Parr were also sliding each other for position constantly throughout the entire race with Moule finally taking out third from Paul Solomon in fourth and Brayden Parr rounding out the top 5.
After flying in from Pt Headland on the day WA30 Jamie Landrigan was rewarded with 6th place finish after dropping a heat and transferring thru the B. Current series leader Mark Caruso didn’t have the best of night finishing 9th but managed to lock in more points for the Championship by being consistent and finishing.
SA95 Jarman Dalitz, SA69 Cody Atkins & SA77 Dan Evans all were rewarded after each spending the week in their sheds with Dalitz replacing an engine, Atkins replacing a Diff and Evans rebuilding a complete car after Horsham last weekend. All finishing mid pack in the A.
Heat races were hard and fast and the night started off badly with young Ben Gartner having mechanical problems and missed hot laps and did not finish his first heat. Jack Gartner was another to have problems not finishing his first heat and not being able to make it out for his second, losing valuable points towards the Championship.
